What is a watershed? Watersheds, also known as drainage basins or catchment areas, are areas of land that drain into a common waterway, such as a river, lake, or ocean. The water that flows from our faucets originates in a watershed. Forests play a vital role in maintaining the health and functionality of watersheds. What is the connection between forests and our water? There is a balance in nature, a connection between watersheds and forests that is a crucial aspect of environmental sustainability and ecosystem health.
